Inclusive Online Platform "Indy" Supports Independent Workers

Editor's Note:  Our community has a good share of independent, gig and freelance workers as well as work from home entrepreneurs. Like many industries, there's an "app" for that, in this case an organization called Indy. It's certainly not for everybody, but does help connect independent workers with each other, with potential customers, and other resources.

(NewsUSA) - Even before the COVID-19 pandemic swelled, the ranks of work-from-home employees, freelancing was on the rise as workers across a range of fields sought more flexibility and control over their work lives, enabled by the latest advances in technology. In 2020, there were 59 million people doing freelance work in the United States. This is an increase from 2014, when there were about 53 million people freelancing according to Statista, a leading provider of market and consumer data.

The demonstrated success of working remotely means that independent workers will be key to the future of work, even as many people return to in-person office settings.

To thrive both professionally and personally, independent workers need support and tools to promote their skills and manage their business.

An online platform known as Indy provides these features and more. Indy offers a complete productivity suite that helps independent workers take the management of their businesses to the next level, with tools and guidance for creating contracts, generating invoices, and everything in between. Additionally, their blog, The Independent Worker, is focused on addressing topics of interest to freelancers, ranging from business development to managing burnout.

Editors Note:  The Computing Center sells a lot of ink and toner. In 2020, the amount of ink cartridges we sold jumped dramatically with many of our clients working from home. We also serviced a lot of home-based printers for the same reason. The vast majority of the inks we sell are from OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), Hewlett Packard and others.  Only about 5% of the inks we sell come from 3rd parties. This article, definitely written from Hewlett Packard's point of view, discusses the advantages of using their branded cartridges, generic ink cartridges. We're always happy to discuss our exeriences with all ink cartridges.
The printer is perhaps more important than ever these days with so many people working remotely and even teaching their children at home. These trends have resulted in high demand for printers, ink, and accessories, with the U.S. print industry expected to hit $6,792.7 million in 2021.
Whether you opt for a black-and-white printer or go all-in for an enterprise-level, multifunction color model, it’s crucial to consider the cost of ink before you buy. One way people have tried saving is by buying generic or remanufactured ink cartridges. But are they actually a good deal?
Here’s what you should know before you try to cut costs with anything but an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ink product. The actual savings may not be what you expect.

Should I Finance My IT Project?

If you are like most, you look for ways to ensure your IT projects thrive. One undervalued project aspect that can save you energy, time, and cash flow is your selected payment method.

Before you invest in your next IT endeavor, ask yourself:

-        Do you have other projects, expenses or initiatives that require cash or capital that you would like to invest in?

-        Would a payment plan help you better manage your cash flow and expenses?

-        Are you looking to maximize your IT project, but working on a tight budget?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, an alternative acquisition model is the right choice for you.
