Dustin and Nicole Brown are playing in “Racker Rivals Big Red,” an exhibition hockey game hosted by Franziska Racker Centers, and Cornell Big Red Hockey. The event will raise funds for Franziska Racker Centers and their programs, serving people with disabilities in our community. The game will feature Cornell’s hockey coaches including Mike Schafer Ben Syer, Topher Scott, Doug Derraugh and Edith Racine. Players will also include Cornell alumni, local players from the community and celebrity players- Joe Nieuwendyk, Ben Scrivens, Dustin Brown and Mike Richter!
In addition to the celebrity players, there are other local players with connections to our company: Greg Hartz, the President of Tompkins Trust, Tony Eisenhut, President of Rheonix, and Roger Dennis, the CEO of Taughannock Aviation, all Computing Center clients. Jill Cater-Cyker is the daughter of Eric Cyker, a former Computing Center employee and current contractor.
The Computing Center is directly sponsoring Dustin and Nicole in the game. We are encouraging others to make a pledge in honor of them or any other player to see how much we can raise to help support the important services that Racker Centers provides. Please help support Racker Centers by making a player pledge!
The 2nd Racker Rivals Big Red arrives at Cornell's Lynah Rink on July 11, 2015 at 7pm. It's a celebrity hockey game to support our friends at the Racker Centers. Racker Centers is one of our amazing not-for-profit organizations that supports those with disabilities. Their mission statement well defines the organization: "We support people with disabilities and their families to lead fulfilling lives by providing opportunities to learn and be connected with others." More about Racker Centers is at: www.rackercenters.org/
After over 38 years in business, we at The Computing Center stongly believe that supporting human services agencies help create our very special quality of life for our community. And we like nothing better than supporting some of the creative events that Ithaca has become known for. One of our favorite quotes regarding service to our community attributed to Muhammad Ali and others that sums our our feelings:
"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth."
So, The Computing Center has agreed to be a Supporting Sponsor of the "Racker Rivals Big Red" event to be held at Lynah Rink on July 11th. Celebrity hockey players including Dustin Brown captain of the LA Kings, former Cornell and NHL hockey great Joe Nieuwendyk, and Edmondon Oilers goal tender, Ben Scrivens will all be participating. All the sponsorship and other fundraising will go to support the great work of the Fransisca Racker Centers.
